In December 2015 I watched "Victor Frankenstein" in the "Silver Screen" cinema. Frankly speaking, I had various feelings about it.  Such popular actors as James McAvoy ("Becoming Jane", "X-Men", "Atonement") and the famous "Harry Potter" Daniel Radcliff are starring in the movie. At first you may think that it is a mixture of different genres. And to my mind in the beginning of the movie it is so. It is both action and comedy. I wouldn't say that it is a horror film though.

From my point of view, the movie reflects sadness, pain and desperation of Victor – one of the main characters. There are moments when you hate him for his mad thoughts and humor, but from the middle of the movie you begin to sympathize with Victor. Even his own father hates him, because he thinks that Victor is responsible for the death of his eldest son. I can't forget the moment when Igor started to speak to Victor about his older brother. Victor's eyes were full of tears, madness and sadness. It was one of the most touching moments in the film. As well as the one when Victor saw his second creation – the famous monster. There was nothing in it's eyes. It was an ugly and souless creature. It could walk and breathe but it was not an ideal man that Victor wanted to create. And in that moment all Victor's ideals and dreams failed.

Finally the main character – Igor. He was an ugly and miserable clown in the circus. But he had a pure soul and a warm heart. Also he was very skilled in medicine that's why he had cought Victor's attention.

Obviously, the film has many strange and unreligious things in it, but I think it shows that there are many problems in our modern world. And in the end it shows that only faith can help you in all your troubles. So you musn't forget about it.

In this film we may observe the conflict between progress and religion. I think that one shouldn't pay much attention to the unpleasant moments in the movie, rather concentrate on the main idea, penetrate the essence of the movie – and then one will have lots of pleasure. You should try to look into Victor's and Igor's souls and try to understand their actions and problems.

If you like watching films in English and you are interested in the sense of the movie or in some talented actors like James and Daniel then I strongly recommend you to see this film.
